Welcome to Summit Small Business

You started your own business because you’re really good at what you do. That’s the way it should be. Today’s intensely competitive marketplace does not reward mediocrity.

But it’s not enough. Unless you know how to run a small business, you’ll work harder, longer for less money than you ever would for someone else. Does that describe you?

We specialize in helping talented people like yourself master the business-side of their business so their firm can achieve its full potential. That’s what we’re good at and we’d love to help you.

How to Work with Bill

The most frequent question I’m asked about my business is this, “What exactly do you do?” People tell me they like my blog, my Facebook Fans Page, and my Linkedin Profile but don’t know how to work with me.

So here it is, clear and simple, three ways to work with me:

CONSULTING PROGRAMS

The heart and soul of my practice is working with small business owners and their teams on a weekly basis over the course of 6, 9, or 15 months. Like a personal trainer, we start by assessing what kind of shape your business is in and, from that assessment, set the objectives for your program. I then hold you accountable for taking the steps of action needed to reach those objectives.

And, like a personal trainer, I bring extensive expertise to the table so that you truly master the essentials of running a small business. We’ll focus on five key areas critical to success: planning, people, sales, marketing, and money. Read 10 Questions Every Business Owner Must Answer to see our approach in each of these areas.

I’ve literally spent thousands of hours in weekly consulting sessions with hundreds of clients. This methodology, bite-sized chunks of content combined with consistent accountability, is simply the very best way to grow your business and worth every penny invested in it.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Contact me via email and set up an initial consultation. EMAIL BILL NOW.
  • At this consultation we’ll conduct an assessment of your business in these five areas: planning, people, sales, marketing, and money.
  • From that assessment I’ll recommend specific objectives we should pursue, the time frame that’s best for pursuing them, and the outcomes you should expect from working together.
  • Schedule a start date for your consulting program.

Our consulting is available in person, via GoToMeeting, or a combination of the two.

INTRODUCTORY PROGRAMS

Over the years I’ve learned that not everyone is ready to jump into an extended consulting engagement, so I’ve designed two introductory consulting programs. Both of these programs consist of three one hour sessions, conducted once a week or once a month. This allows you to get a sense of what it’s like to work with me and address some basic business challenges without making a long-term commitment.

Program One: HOW TO HIRE

You’ve got too much to do. Way too much. It’s time to get some help, but the last time you hired someone it was a total disaster. You’re not alone. Three out of four new hires in organizations large and small never work out, costing companies thousands and thousands of dollars every year.

HOW TO HIRE equips you with a proven, predictable hiring process where costly mistakes like this are eliminated. Each session is fully customized to your business context and includes five easy to follow checklists for every phase of the hiring process, from recruiting to onboarding. This program is available to you and up to three members of your team for one flat fee.

I’ve helped dozens of small business owners attract and retain the very best people for the open positions in their company, and they are amazed at the difference quality employees have made in their business.

Program Two: HOW TO LEAD

“I’m not a leader, I’m a ________________ (insert the specialized skill you possess that motivated you to start your own business).” That statement may have be acceptable when you were an individual contributor in a large corporation, but it’s not acceptable now.

Now nearly every action you take has a ripple effect throughout your organization, no matter how small. HOW TO LEAD is a call to leadership excellence based on the best-selling book The Leadership Challenge by Jim Kouses and Barry Posner and their 20 years of research on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.

You’ll get real time data on your leadership using a 30 question online survey, The Leadership Practices Inventory, and learn practical steps of action to lead your people more effectively. This is the very best leadership material on the market today, and we are excited to be the exclusive providers of it in the state of Oregon.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Select the Introductory Program that interests you the most.
  • Contact me via email and ask any questions you might have about your selection. EMAIL BILL NOW.
  • Schedule your three sessions and get going.

These programs are available in person, via GoToMeeting, or a combination of the two.

So the next question I’m asked about my business is this, “How much does it cost?”

Before answering that question, may I ask you this, “What’s it costing you right now NOT to address the pressing issues in your small business?” For most business owners it’s thousands of dollars, or worse, priceless things like family, friends, and personal health.

When it comes to pricing, I’ve placed myself in the middle of the pack. Like buying a car, there are much cheaper consulting programs (but who wants to drive a Yugo?) and much more expensive ones as well. Our introductory programs are as affordable as $350 a month, which includes all your consulting materials and unlimited access to me between sessions during the duration of our working together.

Please, don’t let pricing stop you from building a better business! Again, it’s probably costing you much, much more than a few thousand dollars to leave the issues in your business unaddressed. Contact me today and let’s see if it makes sense to work together.

I offer a unique unconditional guarantee: If within the first 30 days of our working together we can’t find a way to pay for my services by improving your business, I’ll give you all your money back and you’ll have no additional obligation to me whatsoever.
